Iget a kick out of Working Families Edmonton, the lefty party in the municipal election that refuses to call itself a party.

You tell me whether it’s a party: It has a preferred roster of candidates for mayor and council (but not under its banner) . It is spending tens of thousands of dollars supporting its chosen candidates (and opposing centrist and right-of-centre candidates). It doesn’t have to declare the amounts or sources of its funding because it won’t register as a party. And it has more organizational muscle from public service unions and local New Democrats than either of the registered parties — Better Edmonton and PACE (the Principled Accountable Coalition of Edmonton).
