Plans to transform an historic Coventry building have taken another step. The Old Fire Station could be transformed into a bar and restaurant after planning officers recommended permission be granted for work to begin with conditions.

The historic site on Hales Street was initially transformed into a bar, firstly Escape, 20 years ago. In recent years it has been Sprinkles, an ice cream parlour, but plans submitted to Coventry City Council earlier this year sought permission to turn it back into a bar, with a restaurant and lounge area.

The site, understood to date back to the early 1900s, is locally-listed and known for retaining its fire station outer façade despite not functioning as one for several decades.
