Over 97% of all businesses in both Winnipeg and Canada are considered small businesses. These enterprises generate local job growth, promote neighbourhood liveability, and bring healthy competition to the marketplace. “Buy local” campaigns also highlight the range of culture and creativity that defines our city.
However, business permits, maintenance and inspection costs, tariffs, tightening supply chains, and staffing shortages continue to challenge small entrepreneurs. The is spotlighting a few of them — and their successes and struggles — in recognition of Small Business Appreciation Week.
