Israel on Sunday carried out airstrikes in Gaza's Rafah, accusing Hamas of attacking the Jewish nation in a "bold violation of the ceasefire". Hamas, however, said it was unaware of such an incident in the southern Gaza region, and stressed it was committed to valuing the ceasefire.

According to the Israeli military, air force jets struck an area in Rafah after "terrorists" opened fire on troops. It also said that Hamas's actions "blatantly violated" the ceasefire agreement, adding that the military would respond firmly.

Quoting the BBC, a military official said Hamas conducted "multiple attacks against Israeli forces beyond the yellow line", which they say is the area Israeli troops withdrew as per phase one of the US-brokered agreement.
