Michigan’s beautiful fall color display is expected to take a hit later today when high wind gusts sweep in along with a cold front. Winds of 35 to 40 mph are expected across much of the state later today, with some higher winds possible along the shorelines.
Gale Warnings have been hoisted for Lake Michigan and Lake Huron. Double-digit wave heights are expected in some areas of the lakes. Lake Huron could see up to 14-foot waves at the height of the wind, the National Weather Service said. Lake Erie could also see seiche conditions - where water sloshes from one end of the lake to the other, creating a bathtub-like effect and leaving low water at one end for hours.
