Prince Andrew has announced he will give up all of his royal titles and honours following discussions with members of the Royal Family .

It is understood that King Charles and Prince William were part of talks which took place before Andrew's announcement on Friday, October 17.

Andrew will no longer be referred to as the Duke of York - a title bestowed on him by his mother, the late Queen Elizabeth II.

This means the 65-year-old will also lose the titles of the Earl of Inverness and Barony Killyleagh.

Andrew has agreed to not use the honours given to him as a Royal Knight Companion of the Order of the Garter.
