BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) - As UAB celebrated their first win against a ranked team since 2021 and first against Memphis since 2011, the emotions poured out of quarterback Ryder Burton.
Despite being a redshirt sophomore and UAB being his third school since graduating Springville High School in Utah, Saturday was the first career start for Burton.
“I’ve been to three schools in three years and it’s tough when you’re not playing the game you love,” Burton said after UAB’s win over Memphis at Protective Stadium. “But, I’ve prepared like I’m the starter for three years and I think tonight showed dividends to that.”
Burton showed out in his debut game for the Blazers, going 20-of-27 passing with three touchdowns and an interception Saturday, including a 20-yard pass to Iverson Hooks to pu
