Black Phone 2 was expected to open in first place at the box office this weekend, and it did with $26.5 million, only beating out the opening weekend of the first film by $3.5 million. It did bring in an additional $15.5 million globally, for a total take of $42 million on a $30 million budget. The film received a B Cinemascore, just under its predecssor's B+.

The only other new wide release of the weekend was Aziz Ansari's Good Fortune , which collected $6.2 million for third place. The film is well-reviewed, and picked up a B Cinemascore, but is not turning out much of an audience.
