SPRINGFIELD — A driver smashed into an apartment building on Worthington Street, heavily damaging the building and forcing six people out of their homes Friday night.

The driver was taken to the hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening, after firefighters extricated her from the car, said Fire Capt. Drew Piemonte.
