Just after 3 a.m. on May 29, 1972, the unclothed body of 3-year-old Bobby Jankowski was found face down in some bushes at the edge of Fallon Field in Roslindale. He’d been strangled to death.

About 10:45 p.m. on Jan. 8, 2015, Alex DoSouto, 24, was a passenger in a car that was hit by gunfire on Harrishof Street in Roxbury. He became Boston’s first homicide victim that year.

Carlos Lind , 19, was fatally shot on Columbus Avenue on Oct. 8, 2016.

Those three homicides are among approximately 1,800 murders in the city that remain unsolved and are now posted on the Boston Police Department’s website.

Investigators are publicizing them in an ambitious effort to enlist the public’s help in solving them.
