NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A new park opened in New Orleans in honor of a community leader.

According to city officials, the grand opening of the Barbara Lacen-Keller Park was held Friday, Oct. 10. It will be a new green space in honor of Lacen-Keller, a community leader who advocated for Central City.

The grand opening was attended by councilmember Lesli Harris, city officials, community partners and the family of Lacen-Keller. The area was previously an unused concrete lot. Now it features lush landscaping, benches, shade trees and gathering areas.
