(KBTX) - The Texas A&M football team rose to No. 3 in Sunday’s AP Top 25, marking the first time the Aggies have entered the top 3 since 1995.
The Aggies defeated Arkansas 45-42 at Razorback Stadium Saturday and were aided by previous No. 3 Miami’s loss to Louisville Friday.
A&M also moved up to No. 3 in the USA Today Coaches Poll.
In 1995, the Aggies began the season No. 3 in the AP Top 25 and held the position through the first five polls of the campaign. A&M dropped to No. 9 after losing to then No. 7 Colorado.
Sunday marked the first time A&M moved into the No. 3 position during the course of the year since the week of Nov. 10, 1975. A&M began that season 10-0 and moved into the top 3 after defeating SMU, 36-3.
