No charges will be filed in the in the broad daylight shooting death of a man at a west Birmingham gas station.
The Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office ruled the Thursday slaying of 26-year-old Romeo D’Anthony Underwood justified, Birmingham police announced Saturday night.
The reason for that ruling has not been released.
Multiple shots rang out just before noon Thursday at the Jefferson Avenue Food Mart at the corner of Jefferson Avenue and 54th Street S.W.
Authorities said Underwood saw someone he knew who was getting gas and asked him for a ride to another location.
As he was preparing to get into the small red sedan, another man pulled up in a different vehicle and they “engaged in a conversation” and gunfire ensued. The two reportedly had a past dispute.
Underwood was
