ONSLOW COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - A suspect is now in custody after a shooting in Onslow County.

Sunday, around 1:30 p.m., deputies with the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office went to a 911 call reporting a person had been shot near the intersection of Burgaw Highway and Holly Shelter Road.

When deputies arrived, they found one person with a gunshot wound. The victim was taken to Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune for treatment, and their condition is unknown at this time.

Officials say shortly after arriving on the scene, deputies got information about a possible suspect and their vehicle. The suspect was then taken into custody with help from the Pender County Sheriff’s Office and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
