The Kelowna Rockets came up just short in a fight-filled, tightly contested matchup on Saturday night, falling 3–2 to the Everett Silvertips at Prospera Place before 4,630 fans.

Kelowna got off to a strong start when forward Daniel Pekar opened the scoring early in the first period. The 17-year-old notched his first WHL goal by finishing off a rush, sliding the puck underneath Everett goaltender Anders Miller to give the Rockets a 1–0 lead.

Midway through the second period, the Rockets doubled their advantage on the power play. Will Sharpe, also scoring his first of the season, delayed his shot before firing a perfectly placed bar-down snipe past Miller. Pekar and defenceman Mazden Leslie picked up the assists on the goal.

Everett responded quickly, as Jesse Heslop cut the lead in half
