(NewsNation) — The U.S. Food & Drug Administration has added six additional products to its list of imported cookware that may leach lead into food.
Last month, the FDA issued a consumer warning alerting people to certain brands of imported cookware that may leach “significant levels” of lead into food.
The imported cookware products, made from aluminum, brass and aluminum alloys, were tested by officials who found that they may release lead into food during the cooking process.
No level of lead is safe for human ingestion. "Young children, women of child-bearing age, and those who are breastfeeding may be at higher risk for potential adverse events after eating food cooked using these products," according to the FDA.
