The Kelowna Chiefs (7-1-1) overcame an early deficit to score four straight goals, including Owen Downey’s winner early in the second period, in an 8-3 victory over the Sicamous Eagles (1-6-2) on Saturday in Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL) action.
Andrik Lygas earned the win in his debut with a solid 19-save performance. Sam Dubchak contributed three assists, while Phinneas Birmel notched his first two KIJHL goals. Dylan Spackman stopped 32 shots in net for the Eagles.
Princeton Shuts Out Golden 3-0
Bryton Morrow scored the game-winning goal, and Sam Koester earned his first KIJHL shutout with 26 saves as Princeton (7-2-0-1) blanked Golden (5-4-0) 3-0. Brayden Sumner added an insurance goal late in the third period. Beck Boiteau made 42 saves for Golden.
