EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — New York Jets quarterback Justin Fields was benched in favor of Tyrod Taylor to start the second half of the team’s 13-6 loss to the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.

Fields was 6 of 12 for 46 yards in the first two quarters, unable to do much with the offense as the winless Jets’ struggles on that side of the ball continued. New York trailed 10-3 at halftime, and Carolina made it 13-3 with a 29-yard field goal on its opening possession of the third quarter.

Fields was just 9 of 17 for 45 yards in the Jets’ 13-11 loss to the Denver Broncos last week in London, where the Jets had a franchise-worst minus-10 net passing yards.
