Children enjoyed a free football lesson on Sunday, learning the basics of the game and how to catch and pass.

The Erie Sports Commission and Dick's Sporting Goods collaborated for this event, inviting kids ages 5 to 10.

The commission aims to make sports as accessible as possible by hosting events like this, where children can participate for free.

One father said this event is great for families with young kids.

Timothy McCullum said, "Just to get out in the community, see more, to venture more, and learn the game of football firsthand, not from me but to hear another voice and give him that. I love to give back, so I thought it was a great opportunity to come to an event that they're also giving back."
