Srinagar, Oct 19: A day after a devastating fire reduced a Darul Uloom to ashes in Boniyar area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, locals have expressed outrage over the absence of fire and emergency services in the area, accusing the authorities of negligence and repeated apathy.

The Saturday’s fire engulfed the religious seminary within minutes. Due to the lack of a nearby fire station, no immediate help could be provided, resulting in complete damage to the structure. While no casualties were reported, the loss is being described as irreparable by the local residents.

“The fire could have been brought under control had we received help on time. But there was no fire service around. We were left to watch it burn with our own eyes,” locals told Rising Kashmir.
