What they lack in tickets, they make up for in dedication.

John Stavrou was the first fan to brave the rain at David Pecaut Square, just a few blocks north of Rogers Centre, to snag decent seats at a free viewing party hosted by the city.

“I love the Blue Jays — and I ain’t seen anything like this since Joe Carter in ‘93,” Stavrou told the Star. “That’s why I came out here tonight. I want to see something like that again.”

Regardless of tonight’s outcome, he considers the season a success.

“It’s been amazing. This team is phenomenal,” Stavrou said. “No matter what happens tonight, I believe we’re only one or two players from a dynasty team here.”

Jas Persaud, a fan since ‘77, couldn’t get tickets to Sunday’s game, but that won’t stop her from “making some noise” amongst fellow fans.
