NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. (WJBF) - A chase in North Augusta ends in a crash with the driver facing charges and being treated at a local hospital.

North Augusta Public Safety officers engaged in a chase with a man on a motorcycle, Saturday night, on Edgefield Road.

The driver of the motorcycle was reportedly going over 80 in a 40 mph zone.

After a second Public Safety vehicle attempted to stop him at the intersection with Edgewood Drive, he pulled a u-turn and sped off in the opposite direction.

Investigators say he then lost control of his bike near the intersection with Belvedere-Clearwater Road and crashed.

Responding officers immediately began to render aid. The driver reportedly smelled strongly of alcohol.
