PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - Three people were rescued after two cars went over an embankment near Fred’s Marina in northwest Portland on Sunday afternoon, according to police.

At about 12:30 p.m., Portland police and firefighters responded to the report of a crash off a 20-foot embankment along Northwest Marina Way.

Crews with Portland Fire & Rescue took about 15 minutes to reach and rescue the three people pinned inside the two crashed cars, PF&R said. Firefighters had a technical rescue crew standing by to help, but they were not needed.

As the scene was near railroad tracks, officials coordinated with the rail companies to stop trains while emergency responders worked.

All three people were suffering from “a range of injuries,” but are all expected to recover, firefighters said.
