Around 40 students from UMass Lowell were forced to flee their bus in Westwood, Massachusetts, after it caught fire while they were traveling to a band show in Norwood on Sunday afternoon.

The Westwood Firefighters union says there were multiple calls around 1:30 p.m. reporting a bus fire on High Street in the area of Grove Street. Pictures from the scene showed bright orange flames shooting from the top of the bus, as well as a thick cloud of dark gray smoke.

Band members were seen running down the sidewalk, away from the bus that had pulled over to the side of the road as flames tore through the vehicle.
