The Central Florida community has come together, turning their concerns into action for federal employees who haven't been paid in weeks at the Orlando International Airport.

A donation drive has been organized at departures in Terminal C. Just two days in, and it's growing at a rapid rate.

Chris Petty says that with how much he's traveling, specifically flying, he understands the importance of Transportation Security Administration workers and air traffic control.

The drive is looking for nonperishable food items, toiletries, baby supplies and $10 gift cards.

"If you aren't getting a paycheck right now, those are the things you could probably use the most," Petty said.

Airport officials say every donation, no matter how small, makes a difference for federal workers still without pay.
