In the final episode of Task , Dark Hearts leader Perry (Jamie McShane) contemplates killing his protégé, Jayson (Sam Keeley), who has become a dangerous liability to their criminal organization. Perry already murdered Jayson’s wife for leaking information earlier in the season, but he can’t bring himself to finish the job. For Perry, killing Jayson for his fuck-ups also means that he failed him as a father figure. It’s a moment reminiscent of Tony Soprano and Christopher Moltisanti’s relationship in The Sopranos —or so I thought. When I mentioned it to McShane and Keeley in September, they were stunned.
