BUHL, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Following a nearly year long effort, eight families now have new homes.

Eight families received the keys to their new homes Thursday thanks to the South Central Community Action Partnership.

The organization helps low-income families become homeowners by working alongside them to build their houses. Each homeowner has to put in 35 hours a week and cannot move in until each house is built.

“I’m glad to be done with construction. I’m glad to finally settle in,” said Makayla Miller, one of the new homeowners.

Miller said the experience felt surreal after working on the project for so long.
