Two people have died after a cargo plane slid off the runway and plunged into the sea while landing at Hong Kong International Airport early Monday morning.

The Boeing 747 freighter had been travelling from Dubai to Hong Kong when the accident occurred shortly before 4am.

Photos showed the AirACT cargo jet partially submerged near the airport’s sea wall, its nose and tail separated and an escape slide deployed.

All four crew members on board survived the crash, according to Hong Kong International Airport.

However, two people inside a ground vehicle believed to have been struck by the aircraft were confirmed dead, the South China Morning Post reported, citing police.
