There was so much buzz around Mumford & Sons when they first arrived on these shores in 2013 as brash, foot-stomping folk-rockers with the grandeur of U2.

Was it a fresh new sound -- the British Avett Brothers -- or the stuff of parody? Was it just slightly cooler than Nickleback?

The consensus was about 50-50 on that, and probably hasn’t moved on Mumford, which has adhered to the formula these dozen years.
