It could hit nearly 30 degrees every day this week in Brisbane, with predictions of a sweltering seven days across the state’s south-east.

Thursday and Sunday would probably be particularly uncomfortable, with tops of 35 degrees and rain forecast.

If that temperature is reached, it would be the equal third-hottest day of the year in the River City. The hottest day was January 16, when the mercury peaked at 37.4 degrees.

The coolest day of this week, Saturday, is still on track to reach 28 degrees.

“This time of year has always been temperamental,” meteorologist Livio Regano said.

“We tend to get troughs moving west to east … and it raises the temperature.

“It’ll certainly be in the high 30s on Thursday and there could be storms around as well.”
