ST. CHARLES, Mo. (First Alert 4) -The city of St. Charles assured residents the water is safe to drink on Sunday after residents reported a difference in taste and odor.

“We want to assure everyone that the water remains safe to drink and continues to meet all state and federal water quality standards,” The city’s post on Facebook said.

The post explained that during a recent scheduled maintenance at the Elm Point Water Treatment Plant, the plant’s water production was reduced to approximately 25%.

St. Charles states it supplemented water from St. Louis City to keep regular service and system pressure throughout the city.
