Coventry City Council has been fined by the government for not paying staff enough.
The Department for Business and Trade named 500 businesses and organisations that were to be fined a collective £10 million for failing to pay the National Minimum Wage.
Around 42,000 workers have been repaid by their employers, including well-known high street brands, with employers handing over £6 million to affected staff.
For its part, Coventry City Council failed to pay £5,167.58 to five apprentices. It said the oversight was due to a 'small delay'. A spokesman told Coventry Live changes had been made to stop it happening again.
They said: "A small delay in updating apprentice pay rates led to an underpayment for five members of staff. This was corrected immediately and all arrears were paid.
