The gathering of Blue Jays fans at David Pecaut Square on Sunday may have been small — but it was mighty.
The fervour and support of dozens of fans in attendance at the city-hosted viewing party, just a few blocks north of Rogers Centre, was matched by the Blue Jays’ performance, as Toronto beat the Mariners 6-2 to level the series and force a winner-takes-all game seven on Monday night.
Fans at the King Street square cheered along with those in attendance at Game 6 as the Jays hit the Seattle pitchers hard all night long, logging eleven hits and scoring six runs along the way. The real story of the night, though, was 22-year-old Trey Yesavage, who went 5 and 2/3 innings, striking out 7 hitters and inducing three rally-killing double plays.
