JAMES ISLAND — At Charleston’s newest rage room, customers get a bang for their buck — literally — paying to whack and pulverize objects like coffee mugs, outdated electronics and plenty of glass.

Customers choose between 20-50 “rage-filled” minutes in the room and have a host of provided tools to use, including sledgehammers, hammers and bats. For an extra dose of destruction, there’s even a car windshield add-on.

When the time is up, they simply remove the provided protective clothing and walk out, no cleanup needed.

The new venue marks the South Carolina debut of iSmash, a New York-based franchise that opened its doors Oct. 3 in the Food Lion-anchored James Island Shopping Plaza. It announced the new location in April.
