South Carolina drivers can say goodbye to the familiar blue license plate and hello to the new SC250 plate honoring the state’s part in shaping the outcome of the Revolutionary War.
The South Carolina standard license plate with a palmetto tree, crescent moon and the phrase "While I breathe, I hope" is being phased out. It is a result of the state Legislature passing a bill that mandated it. Known as House Bill 3175, it was signed by Gov. Henry McMaster in May. The familiar blue plate was introduced in late 2015, and its 10-year tenure is up.
