A Renfrewshire primary school teacher has been banned from the profession after having a secret sexual relationship with a teenage girl for two years.
Joanne Munro was working at St David’s Primary in Johnstone when she started a “close, personal, intimate friendship” with a vulnerable 16-year-old she met at a Girl Guides camp in August 2011.
Munro gave the youngster alcohol, told her to keep the relationship a secret and even kissed her before she sat an exam.
The disgraced teacher was hauled before the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS) where she admitted a string of allegations. She accepted her fitness to teach was impaired and that she was unfit to teach. The shamed teacher also accepted her actions were ‘sexually motivated’.
