Former Major League Baseball top prospect and New York Yankees catcher Jesus Montero has died. He was 35 years old.

Montero died after being involved in a wreck in Venezuela earlier this month, according to the Associated Press .

The report states that Montero was on his motorcycle on Oct. 4 when he crashed into a truck. He had been hospitalized since the crash and was in critical condition. Montero was unable to recover from the injuries and it was revealed on Sunday that he has died.
