WANAQUE, New Jersey (WABC) -- Police say two people are dead after a major crash involving multiple vehicles near a school in Wanaque, New Jersey.

According to officials, up to four cars collided on Ringwood Avenue, just north of Haskell Elementary School, after 8:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Drivers of two of the cars were killed, including a 26-year-old man from Wanaque and a 63-year-old man from New York City.

The crash caused delays of an hour and a half at schools district-wide.

A portion of Ringwood Avenue was closed for several hours to clean up debris following the crash.

The road was cleared of debris and reopened Monday morning.

The crash is being investigated by the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office.
