Social media platforms often circulate fake quotes attributed to celebrities. Former Indian cricket star Navjot Singh Sidhu recently faced a similar situation with a fabricated quote circulating online. The fake post appeared before the India vs Australia series. It falsely claimed Sidhu had commented about removing Ajit Agarkar and Gautam Gambhir from their positions and reinstating Rohit Sharma as captain for India to win the 2027 World Cup. Sidhu quickly responded to the false attribution on platform X: "Never said it, don't spread fake news, never imagined it. Shame on you."
