At present, two ATP 500 events are underway, in Basel and Vienna. Several top players will be playing in either of these two events.
World No.1 Carlos Alcaraz , however, won’t be in action this week as he will directly play the last Masters 1000 of the season, the Paris Masters, scheduled to start on October 27. Alcaraz was last seen in action at the Six Kings Slam, where he lost to Jannik Sinner in straight sets in the final. His last official match was in the Japan Open as he skipped the Shanghai Masters.
As per the new ATP rule, players have to participate in at least four ATP 500 tournaments, one of which should be after the US Open. Sinner has so far played just one ATP 500 event (Halle Open).
