Abnormally quiet streets and the absence of street parties marked Queen’s University’s Homecoming over the weekend, a weekend that has been historically hard on police and university officials alike.
But after years of planning, which this year included reading week falling ahead of Homecoming weekend, all was abnormally quiet around the campus.
The lineups at the local watering holes may have been a little longer, especially in the student-targeting “hub,” but the street parties were isolated and controlled, according to police social media feeds and other Queen’s related social media platforms.
