The government's Household Support Fund (HSF) can help Brits with free fridges, freezers and ovens, or help with energy and phone bills.

This £742 million fund is spread across councils in England, all with the aim to support struggling UK households.

Between April 2025 and March 2026, another round of funding has been put in place, with Torridge District Council allocating just over £270,000.

The fund cannot be used to provide mortgage support, or support with essential costs like food and water bills, as well as wider expenses including phone bills and clothes.

Anyone interested in claiming the freebies must explain why they need the help.

On top of this, you need to provide details of any savings in your accounts and state if you have savings or other income available.
