A Sewri resident stabbed his neighbour thrice on Sunday allegedly for telling people in the locality that he was a “mobile thief”. The victim’s condition is serious and he has got 10 stitches in his abdomen. The RAK Marg police registered a case of attempt to murder against the accused and arrested him.

According to the police, the victim, Rajesh Sonar, 30, and his wife lives in Sanjay Nagar in Sewri. Sonar alleged his neighbour Pratham Purabiya last month borrowed his bike as he had some work in Byculla. Sonar too accompanied him to Byculla.

Near Byculla railway station, Purabiya asked Sonar to get off and asked him to wait there till he returned. After a few minutes, Purabiya came driving at high speed and picked up Sonar. When Sonar asked him why he was driving at high speed, he said
