City of Brantford officials are looking for ways to bring more transparency to land deals involving the municipality.
Brantford councillors have recommended for approval a review of the city’s acquisition and disposition of real estate policies. Their decision will come before city council for approval on Oct. 28.
“We have strict policies around procurement that make it quite clear that proponents are not to lobby members of council or senior members of city staff,” Coun. Dan McCreary said. “We also have clearly defined roles for municipal staff with respect to procurement.
“But we don’t have that sort of robust control with respect to the disposition of municipal properties.”
The Ward 3 councillor said that needs to change.
