A decision on whether 42 affordable homes can be built on the edge of Wisbech has been delayed, after one councillor branded the plans a “disaster waiting to happen”. Councillors at Fenland District Council said they could not make a decision on whether the homes could be built without more clarity over flooding issues in the area.
The new affordable homes are proposed to be built off Barton Road at the site of a plant nursery. The homes are also proposed to be offered at social rent and made available to people over the age of 55. All of the new homes would be bungalows, with six fully adapted for wheelchair users.
