A phone and vape shop in Cambridge has been told it can’t sell alcohol after objections were raised by police and councillors. They shared concerns about allowing the shop in Burleigh Street to sell alcohol in an area “already deemed sensitive to alcohol related crime and antisocial behaviour”.

The owners of the Burleigh Phone and Vape Shop had made an application to Cambridge City Council , asking for a licence to sell alcohol between 8am and 8pm, Monday to Friday, and between 9am and 6pm on a Saturday and Sunday. The application form said the shop was a “standard UK convenience outlet, offering essential goods and services to the local community”.
