It’s not unusual for the eyes of the world to be focused on Cambridge for the latest scientific innovations. But lately, much of that attention has focused on one company that just emerged at the start of 2025.

Lila Sciences doesn’t call itself a biotech company. But it was birthed, and now is growing in Cambridge because it's working on what it calls a “scientific superintelligence platform” to fuel fully autonomous labs for life, chemical, and materials sciences. That means creating a form of artificial intelligence that processes huge amounts of scientific data and helps scientists design and conduct experiments, create hypotheses and test them in the lab.
