MARCY, N.Y. — A verdict has been reached in the trial over the death of inmate Robert Brooks.
According to WHEC, our sister station Rochester, a jury convicted former Corrections Officer David Kingsley of both second-degree murder and manslaughter. The two other officers on trial were acquitted.
"Today, a jury found one correction officer guilty while acquitting two others in the horrific murder of Robert Brooks. While I am disappointed by the acquittals, I respect the jury's decision," said Governor Kathy Hochul. "What happened to Mr. Brooks is unconscionable, and these verdicts serve as another sobering reminder of the needless losses of Mr. Brooks and Messiah Nantwi."
The trio were charged in the deadly beating of Brooks inside Marcy Correctional Facility this past December.
