DALLAS — Dallas' first professional women's soccer team broke the state record for attendance at a pro women's sporting event Saturday for their matchup against Mexico's Club América Femenil, the team announced.

Dallas Trinity FC lost 3-1 to Liga MX's Club América Femenil Oct. 18 in the inaugural State Fair Clásico in Cotton Bowl Stadium, but the turnout for the game -- scheduled during the final weekend of the State Fair of Texas -- was a clear win.

Attendance reached 22,838 for the matchup, surpassing the previous Texas record, which was set Sept. 18, 2022, by the KC Current vs. Houston Dash for a game that drew 21,284 at PNC Stadium in Houston.
