A Delta Air Lines flight bound for Los Angeles was forced to return to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on Sunday morning after a smoky smell was detected inside the aircraft’s cabin.
According to Delta, Flight 898, a Boeing 757 carrying 219 passengers, two pilots, and five crew members, departed Atlanta at 8:05 a.m.
Shortly after takeoff, the crew noticed a smoky odor and chose to turn the aircraft around as a safety precaution.
What happened to the flight?
The flight landed safely back in Atlanta, and all passengers and crew deplaned without incident. After returning to the gate, Delta's maintenance team evaluated the aircraft to determine the cause of the smell.
